Domus Protect

for Business

Protecting what you've built — the people, the income, and the continuity of your business

Business protection is often structured around tax efficiency as much as risk management. A well-structured policy can deliver the same cover as a personal policy at a fraction of the cost. We advise on both the structure and the product — and work with your accountant or solicitor where needed.

What Our Clients Say

Real reviews from real clients — verified through Working Feedback, which also captures reviews from clients with a Google account.

Business Protection Done Properly

Most business owners have some protection in place — but very few have it structured in the most tax-efficient way. The difference between a personally-held and company-held policy can be significant.

What's at Risk Without It

The loss of a director, key employee, or shareholder can be devastating — financially and operationally. The right protection means the business survives the loss and shareholders retain control.

  • ✓Tax-efficient structures — we advise on company-held vs. personally-held policies
  • ✓Whole-of-market access across all major UK business protection providers
  • ✓We work with your accountant and solicitor to ensure the structure is correct
  • ✓Ongoing reviews as the business and ownership structure evolves

"A Relevant Life policy typically costs 3–4x less than a personally-held equivalent for a company director, because the premiums are paid by the company and are corporation tax-deductible."

Common Questions

What is a Relevant Life policy and who is it suitable for?

A Relevant Life policy is a life insurance policy held by the company, written in trust for the employee's family. Premiums are corporation tax-deductible and the payout is free of income tax and NI — typically 3–4x cheaper than a personal equivalent for a director.

Can my limited company pay the premiums on a protection policy?

Yes — for Relevant Life and Executive Income Protection, premiums are paid by the company and treated as a business expense. This is one of the primary tax advantages of business protection structured correctly.

What happens to shareholder protection if we bring in a new director?

Shareholder protection should be reviewed whenever the ownership structure changes. New directors, share transfers, or significant changes in business value all trigger a review. We include ongoing reviews as standard.

Does key person insurance cover critical illness as well as death?

It can. Key Person policies can be written on a life-only or life-and-critical-illness basis. We advise on both based on the likely financial impact to the business and the age and health profile of the key individuals involved.

Do we need a solicitor involved in shareholder protection?

A Cross-Option Agreement — the legal document that gives shareholders the right (but not obligation) to buy or sell shares — should be drafted by a solicitor. We work with your existing solicitor or can make introductions if needed.
